This beautiful
Artillery
Officer's
Sword has a
golden brass hilt
decorated with palmettes and laurel branches, and is signed MANCEAUX.
Its very nice leather covered handle
retains all of its original copper wire wrapping. The sword's 32"
inspection stamped
curved blade is
signed on the spine "Manufre Rale de Klingenthal Nbre 1830". The steel sheath with two
suspension
rings is signed "MANCEAUX A PARIS,"
denoting it was made by
Francois Jules Manceaux, a
19th century
contractor of the Tulle arms factory
manufacturer,
notable for quality arms for senior officers and various presentation weapons.
