Wasn't so sure it would work well due to it's low cost. Tested on many different concentrations of coolant and it was dead nuts accurate.

I don't have a standard to check the accuracy, but it seems very reasonable. Especially nice is the adjustable eyepiece focus, making it really easy to read. Use and operation compares very favorably to an American Optical refractometer I used years ago professionally.

as a mechanic sometimes you would like to be sure the quality of a liquid in a system is good and this has done that. These tool were pricey, but now it's a great price and reliable.

Dont kill your 6.7l with back DEF

BAD DEF that is outdated can cost you 00 in repairs. to be sure I don't add that crap DEF to my 6.7l I got this unit to be sure its good DEF. Its simple as heck to use and each time I fill up I check the DEF with this refractometer to be sure its still good.

I love this refractometer. I don't have a comparison as this is the only one I've used but it is well crafted and is easy to use. I check all containerized DEF before putting it into our motorhome.

I'm an Auto tech. This tool is great. Reads concentrations for both antifreezes, washer solvent, battery electrolyte, and def fluid. Has a calibration screw behind the hinge under a cap. Even comes with a screwdriver.

I purchased this to test the quality of some DEF that I thought might have been diluted with water. This device was very helpful and easy to use. For the price I believe it would be hard to beat and since it is capable of testing antifreeze and batteries, I'm certain it will get used for more than DEF.It came in a nice case with several eyedroppers for obtaining samples and the quality of the instrument was much higher than I expected.

I use this primarily for DEF. As with all diesels today, that's where most of the problems come from. The first couple of trucks I used it on, read 35% on the DEF. Which is a little too high. So I checked the calibration and sure enough. It wasn't zero'd.Other than that. It works as described. But again, I have only used it for DEF.
Uses metric system (Celsius)

On the upper most description of this product on Amazon, no where does it say anything about this being in Celsius. It shows pictures of it being in Celsius and in the lower description. I was very disappointed after I had already ordered this, and used it. We typically do not use the metric system in the US and when writing a diagnosis for a customers vehicle, it’s a bit of a pain and consumes time to do the conversion. Although yes this is my fault, and the product does work as intended, the description should be shanged or just not sold in the US.
